Man and society

DUTIES

  1. Humans were not able to live on their own and so started to form a bigger group. These organised groups created their system of laws ans accepted behaviour which can be defined as a society. These laws and behaviour make it possible for people to live tohether.

Everyone of us must know what our rights and duties are. Everyone who lives in a society must keep the rules of the society.

GREETINGS

Greetings can be formal or informal. Greetings are the beginings of conversation, not only in cases when people know each other, but also at introducing, at meetings. It is really important to use a right greeting in a different situations we get into. There are certain rules how to greet each other. For example:

  • younger people greet the older ones first
  • a man greets a woman first
  • children always greet adults first

In North America there is no set of rules who greets the first.

Congratulations are also types of showing respect, or showing that we like somebody, that we want to share somebody´s happines or important moments in his life. We congratulate to people when they have their birthday, when they finish the school, when they achieve some success, …

There are also some important rules at the dining table. It is impolite to talk with your mouth full of food, you also shouldn´t eat with your fingers, you shouldn’t put your elbows on the dinning table, you should wait till everybody sists at the table, you can‘t smoke during the eating, .

There are certain everyday manners at home: children have to be polite to their paretns, they should help them in the household, children should ask for something politely it means to say “please” and “thanks”, you shouldn’t interrupt your parent while they are talking elc (think of another manners at home)
